oooo Biying Zhang- Contemporary Artist

My works involve painting human skin using photographs as references, through micro synthesized physical consistency and variation. Most of my work is about struggles. It is about transformation of my experience of space and my feeling being in the US; the difficulty and hardship I went through in daily life. The paintings are about how I feel uncomfortable and frustrated being in a completely different world. The red of skin represents continuous nonstop pain and the tongue expresses vulnerability to violence. Making the work is difficult and in some ways that brings suffering. I am trying to find a correlative approach between painting and psychology. My works are dealing with complex issues of identity, spiritualism, vulnerability, transgression, and horror. Especially dreams I can not now reach. I make an anomalous sense of space, conveying the beauty and horror of the world.
